This superb walk shows you the high moor at its best - rolling grassy hills topped by a succession of strangely-shaped tors, with magnificent views all around, wide skies and a silence that is almost tangible - and all with very little effort!  The route runs from Princetown along a disused tramway to some old granite quarries.  It then cuts across the moor to the valley of the river Meavy and follows it up to the tramway again.  This is an easy route, mainly along tracks and paths.  There are two short stretches where you have to make your own way across the moor but even there the going is easy.

The Plume of Feathers is the oldest building in Princetown, having been built in 1785, and is very popular with walkers.  It comprises two bars, both with open fires.  There is also a family room, and outside a beer garden, a picnic area and a children's play area.  There is an extensive menu, all freshly prepared and ranging from sandwiches and jacket potatoes to steak, chicken and local fish.
